Munir Virani, CA, Chief Executive Officer

Munir brings strong leadership, passion, and innovation to the Westpoint team.  Since 2002, Munir has acted as President of a private real estate investment company which managed over $10 million in real estate assets as well as a significant mortgage investment portfolio.

He has served as the Director of Finance for a large national retailer where he was responsible for taxation, treasury and financial reporting of a consolidated group of companies with revenues in excess of $1.2 billion per annum.  Munir was involved with securing and managing syndicated credit facilities of $100 million dollars, and implemented various corporate restructuring and tax optimization initiatives.  In addition, he was instrumental in executing an initial public offering.  Munir graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Commerce and furthered his professional education by obtaining his Chartered Accountant designation while working with Deloitte and Touche.

Curtis Power, CA, Chief Financial Officer

Curtis brings significant financial accounting, managerial, and internal controls development experience to the Westpoint team.  Curtis began his accounting career in Calgary as an auditor with Ernst & Young LLP in September 2000 and earned his Chartered Accountant (CA) designation in November 2002.  From there he moved to the firm's Hamilton, Bermuda office and worked as an Audit Manager servicing clients in the financial services industry.  His clients included public companies and subsidiaries of public companies listed on the New York and Toronto stock exchanges.

Curtis graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Accounting and a minor in Finance.  Since returning to Canada from Bermuda in late 2007, he has worked as a Senior Manager at a local accounting firm, servicing private corporations and individuals.  There he focused on corporate and personal tax planning, preparation of financial statements, and assisting shareholders of owner managed businesses.

Marnie Kiel-Chiew, Chief Operations Officer

With 11 years of working in finance in a variety of capacities, Marnie brings a unique perspective to Westpoint.  She has held positions within government, banking, and mortgage brokering.  Most recently, Marnie was the Broker/Owner for a local mortgage brokerage where she focused on commercial mortgages and arranged $121 million dollars in financing for clients.  She maintains close relationships with several conventional and private lenders Canada-wide and is in tune with the current trends and risks within the industry.

Marnie obtained a Finance diploma from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology and then continued her studies at the University of Alberta, earning a degree that focused on international relations and trade.   She maintains her Mortgage Associate license under the Real Estate Council of Alberta and holds a membership with the Alberta Mortgage Broker's Association.

Matt Oberle, Chief Lending Officer

Matt has a wealth of experience in all facets of the mortgage industry, including positions in lending, brokering, and management, all which contribute to the success of Westpoint.  His focus has been primarily in the residential sector.  Matt carries a broker license under the Real Estate Council of Alberta and remains active in the industry.  He worked for over 4 years as an Associate Broker with two different companies before starting his own brokerage, which he owned for 5 years.  In his subsequent role as an Account Executive of an American/Canadian lender, he earned #1 status in sales volume across Canada.  Most recently, his position as an Underwriter / Business Development Officer for a private mortgage lender that turns over more than $80 million dollars in capital annually, has given Matt a unique perspective and understanding of the mortgage industry.  Matt has also been managing a portfolio of investment properties since 1996 and has been instrumental in various construction projects from the ground up.

Miguel Schraeder, Chief Technology Officer

Technology is a critical platform that the management team at Westpoint Capital is firmly committed to.  Miguel's expertise lies in his ability to utilize technology effectively and efficiently to create significant cost savings which enables us to pass high yield returns on to our investors.  Miguel has over 10 years experience developing fully customized software and web application. Most recently he led the team that developed a complex on-line Quality Control Management System for the company that was responsible for the multi million dollar Edmonton and Calgary Ring Roads.

Miguel's previous employers include The London Stock Exchange, AS&K Partnership, Telus, and Alberta Agriculture. Miguel graduated from the Computer Systems Technology program at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology on the Dean's Honour Roll and continues to expand his skills by adopting new and innovative technologies and techniques.

Donna Adams, Business Development Manager

Donna brings her sales skills and passion for training to Westpoint Capital. Donna has 10 years experience in the Real Estate and Mortgage industry as both a licensed associate and sales trainer. Donna has received recognition for outstanding sales throughout her career. While a mentor with Buffini and Company she brought her Real Estate and Mortgage associate sales team to number one position in North America in the first quarter of 2007. With her dedication to education and her instructing experience Donna is able to provide brokers the tools needed to grow their business and have a better understanding of the difference between traditional lenders and Westpoint Capital. Donna will be actively assisting the technology team in creating the first private lending portal for brokers that is equal to or better than what the A lenders offer.  Donna is committed to making Westpoint Capital the first choice for brokers when searching for a private lender.
